Leather Embossing & Personalisation

Add a personal finishing touch to leather goods with our traditional in-house embossing service.

From initials on a gunslip or cartridge bag to a company logo, wedding keepsake or named dog collar, we can create a permanent recessed impression using a heated brass block and carefully controlled pressure.

Every piece is completed in our North Devon workshop by the team at Acorn Saddlery, a family saddlery business established in 1985. Our approach is practical, considered and rooted in the same traditional leatherworking skills used throughout our workshop.

We offer our embossing and personalisation service throughout the UK. Items can be brought into our South Molton shop or sent to us by post following prior agreement.

Initials & Personalised Leather Discs

Many of our own leather goods can be personalised with initials embossed onto a matching leather disc.

This is particularly well suited to: Gunslips, cartridge bags, shooting accessories, luggage and other handmade leather goods.

The leather disc is embossed in our workshop before being securely stitched onto the item. It creates a neat and traditional finish without altering the main body of the product.

Initialled leather goods make particularly thoughtful gifts and can also help distinguish similar equipment when used at a shoot, event or gathering.

Names on Leather Dog Collars

We can emboss names directly onto suitable leather dog collars.

The name is pressed permanently into the leather without foil, paint or added colour, leaving a clean and understated recessed impression.

We currently offer names only on dog collars. Telephone numbers and longer strings of digits are not available through this service at present.

Custom Logos & Artwork

We can arrange for a bespoke brass embossing block to be made using your logo, crest, initials or artwork.

A clear PNG or other high resolution image is usually enough for us to assess the design. We can offer some assistance with preparing artwork, although simple, clearly defined images tend to produce the strongest results when embossed into leather.

Our embossing machine has a working bed of approximately 3 inches by 2 inches, so the size and detail of each design must be considered carefully.

The cost of producing a custom brass block is charged separately. Once made, the block belongs to you and can be kept for future orders or stored with us for repeat work.

Custom blocks are ideal for: Corporate logos, family crests, clubs and associations, commemorative designs, event branding and branded leather gifts.

Corporate Gifts & Event Keepsakes

Personalised leather goods offer a more lasting alternative to conventional promotional merchandise.

We can emboss company initials, logos or event artwork onto suitable leather items, coasters and keepsakes. These can be produced for corporate events, client gifts, staff presentations, sporting gatherings or special occasions.

We are happy to discuss anything from an individual presentation piece to larger batches. Each project is quoted separately according to the item, quantity, artwork and whether a custom brass block is required.

Personalised Wedding Favours

We are also developing a range of personalised leather wedding favours and keepsakes.

Initials, names, a wedding date or a simple bespoke design can be embossed onto suitable leather pieces to create something guests can keep and use long after the day itself.

Possible ideas include personalised leather coasters, small keepsakes, place setting gifts and mementos for members of the wedding party.

Leather belts with an embossed name or message may also be prepared for the groom's party.

As each wedding is different, we welcome early enquiries and can discuss the design, quantity and practical options with you.

Embossing Customers’ Own Leather Goods

In many cases, we can emboss leather items that were not originally purchased from Acorn Saddlery.

Direct embossing depends on the quality and finish of the leather, the construction of the item, the location of the proposed impression and whether the area can be positioned safely within our machine.

Please send us clear photographs of the item and the area you would like personalised before posting or bringing it to the workshop. We can then confirm the available options and advise whether direct embossing is suitable.

A Natural, Permanent Finish

Our current service is traditional blind embossing.

A heated brass block is pressed directly into the leather to leave a permanent recessed impression. There is no gold foil, silver foil, paint or added colour.

The exact depth and appearance can vary slightly between different leathers. This natural variation is part of the character of the process and means every finished piece is subtly individual.

Turnaround Times

Standard embossing work is normally completed within 2 to 3 working days once the item and design have been confirmed.

Bespoke brass blocks usually take approximately one week to produce before embossing can begin.

These times are a guide and may vary for larger orders or more involved projects. We will confirm the expected turnaround as part of your quotation.

Request a Bespoke Quotation

Every embossing project is slightly different, so prices are provided individually.

To discuss an idea, please contact us with:

The item you would like personalised, the initials, name or design required, the approximate quantity, your preferred completion date, and clear photographs if the item is already in your possession.

For custom artwork, please also send a clear PNG or high resolution image of the design.

We can advise on the most suitable approach and provide a bespoke quotation before any work begins.
